There is no corporate boardroom or giant media conglomerate behind DailyFret. It is created and maintained by John, a lifelong guitarist, music theory enthusiast, and church worship musician based in Metro Detroit, Michigan. Week in and week out, I play electric and acoustic guitar on our church worship team, crafting ambient swells, locking in with the bass and drum section, and studying how harmony serves the song.
Music has brought immense peace, creative fulfillment, and genuine joy to my life. I built DailyFret out of a desire to share that joy with others: to provide a completely free, welcoming, and rigorous educational space where curious guitarists and bassists of all backgrounds can explore music theory, calibrate their instruments, and grow in their craft every day.
Learning an instrument often feels intimidating when music theory is locked behind dry academic jargon or expensive monthly subscription paywalls. DailyFret is built around a clearer philosophy: deliberate, bite-sized daily discovery paired with permanent long-form reference treatises.
Every interactive tool on DailyFret runs natively inside your browser using deterministic HTML5 WebAudio Digital Signal Processing and high-contrast vector engraving: Karplus-Strong physical string modeling, time-domain autocorrelation pitch detection for sub-cent tuning, 7-band parametric equalization, and AlphaTab staff/tablature engraving.
